The first essential question in art for 7th grade is "How can you make a dwelling using clay?" To prepare for that challenge the class explored various types of architecture - including natural habits, ancient cave dwellings, architecture from Frank Lloyd Wright to Frank Gehry.
Students were asked to create a dwelling - where a living creature - real or imagined, familiar or invented, might live. They were asked to envision the landscape where the dwelling sits, the creatures that live there and the life that they lead in that dwelling while designing their structure. |
